Our tournament Go sets are looking for new homes

Dear Go community,

The European Go Congress is behind us. Hosting the Congress in Türkiye was a great honour for us; to be open with you, it also stretched our association’s budget, and we closed the event with a small deficit.

The goals for the coming period are clear: introducing Go as a sport in Türkiye, starting instructor training, continuing referee and pairing operator training, and strengthening local clubs. Our long-term aim is to make Türkiye a centre of Go in Europe and a bridge to East Asia. All of these steps depend on the association’s financial strength.

For this reason, our Board has decided to pass on 40 tournament-standard Go sets with glass stones, together with their boards, that belong to our association. We would rather see these sets on the tables of players, clubs and associations than waiting in storage. All of the income will go directly to these projects.

Since our first announcement, 4 sets have found new homes and 36 remain. This is a one-off arrangement, limited to the existing stock.

Transfer price (set + board):

  • 6,000 TL
  • 5,000 TL for TGOD members, who already support the association through their membership fees

We especially value requests from local associations and clubs. Collecting the equipment centrally and transporting it between cities for every tournament costs both effort and money. If the sets stay in their regions, local tournaments and lessons can run on their own. We are happy to discuss bulk requests from local associations, and requests for stones only.

If you would like to support us without taking a set, you can make a donation to the association. Every donation is recorded and goes to the same projects.

Your support in this period truly means a lot to our association.
