Purpose and Activities

It aims to popularise and promote the game of Go, which is a game of Far Eastern origin, thereby directing people towards mind sports, gathering players under one roof, meeting the needs of players and ensuring their development.

To achieve its objectives, the Association organises tournaments, courses, conferences, trips, scientific studies, exhibitions and camps, publishes magazines and books on Go, opens branches within provinces, may acquire real estate, establish and operate economic enterprises, and establish mutual aid funds.

To achieve its objectives, the Association also engages in the following activities, without being limited to those listed above:

a)  All kinds of promotional activities to ensure the promotion of the game of Go, not limited to promotion, publicity, advertising, seminars, conferences, presentations, tournaments and publications.

b)  To ensure the procurement of materials required for the game of Go to and within Türkiye.

c)  To manufacture, have manufactured, import or have imported, and trade Go game materials in order to make them easily accessible in Türkiye.

d)  To translate, have translated, and arrange the printing of written materials related to the game of Go.

e)  To help Go players communicate and meet each other.

f)   In order to develop and maintain human relations among its members and to increase the members’ manners, knowledge and experience regarding the objectives and services of the Association:

1.  To engage in all kinds of activities, organise national and international matches and competitions, organise sporting, cultural and social activities and competitions encouraging development in sports among its members, award prizes, participate in organised matches, organise dinner meetings, concerts, balls, theatres, exhibitions, sports, trips and entertainment events, etc., or to enable its members to benefit from such activities.

2.  To train referees, benefit from trained referees, evaluate and certify Go playing levels through training, tournaments, etc., and disseminate the results of these activities through league-like fixtures, and to develop public awareness by making people understand the importance of the sports environment as much as the importance of sports for a healthy life.

3.  To train instructors, benefit from trained instructors, increase the Go playing levels of its members through training, workshops, workshops, conferences, seminars, panels, courses and similar ways. To grade and supervise instructors and training. To organise courses, training, conferences, seminars, panels, etc. for the development of instructors. To cooperate with and receive services from institutions and organisations serving in this field.

g)  To cooperate with Go clubs and other Go associations, and to support such organisations.

h)  To organise courses, meetings and seminars for the purpose of promoting the game of Go.

i)    To organise courses, meetings and seminars for the purpose of ensuring the development of existing players.

j)    To establish contact with Go associations operating abroad and with umbrella organisations. To become a member of such international organisations as an association.

k)  To determine the levels of Go players, to operate a rating system in accordance with international standards, and to procure computer programs related to the subject.

l)    To provide venues where Go players can regularly play and improve themselves.

m)To announce developments in the Go world to its members.

n)  To publish the “Taşlı Yol” magazine related to the game of Go.

o)  To open, operate or have operated clubhouses to meet the social needs of the Association’s members.

p)  The Association buys, sells and rents real estate. The General Assembly authorises the Executive Board in this regard.

q)  To ensure that the Alpar Kılınç Go Tournament is organised traditionally every year. In this regard, the Association makes the first proposal for the organisation to the METU Alpar Kılınç Go Society.
