About TGOD

The Turkish Go Association (Türkiye Go Derneği) is the national body for Go in Türkiye. It was founded in Ankara in 1995 and is based at the Turkish-Japanese Foundation. The presence of Go players in Türkiye was recognised by the International Go Federation in 1993, and the Association has been a member of the European Go Federation since 1996.

The Association runs the Turkish Championship and the national tournament calendar, selects and supports the national teams, maintains player ratings and EGD licensing, trains referees and pairing operators, and works with university Go societies and clubs across the country.

In 2026 Türkiye hosted the 68th European Go Congress in Ankara, the largest Go event in Europe.
